Alternate titles for this episode: "The Tow-mi-Mater" and "Nothing Matters, Mater can Time Travel." That's right folks, we are heading back to the land of Mater's stories for the final entry in his book: "Time Travel Mater." Mater can, in fact, travel through time. Which is... challenging, to say the least. Join as we discuss the founding of Radiator Springs, how Cars would golf (I promise it is related to the episode), and the implications of an all-powerful, master of all times Mater. We even dust off a forbidden tome, and take a look at an early scrapped pitch for this very short. If you think what they actually produced and distributed sounds bonkers, wait until you hear what they decided was a bit too far out there.

Probably not, right? BUT we can probably title it the nonsense we did title it! Probably. Maybe. We aren't really basing that anything. We, uh.... don't know the law. Please don't sue us, Honda. This is probably good publicity? Well, anyway, this is our Holiday Special! We talk about the elusive Santa Car, the fact that Cars is basically a Hallmark movie, and because we can't go just ONE episode without bringing some horror, the sad realities of icy roads in the Carsverse and some good ole fashioned reindeer body horror. So.... It's the Most Honda-ful Time of the Year? That probably just makes it worse. Ah jeez.

Ok, so.... the thing is.... Listen, I don't know how to make a fun little description about this one. There's just so much that happens in this one, folks. Mater is a doctor. Mater is a plane. Mater is a wrestler. Mater can fly. Mater is a fire truck. Mater is a detective. Mater is a rock star. Mater is part alien, maybe? Mater is all-knowing and all-seeing. Mater is, well, everything. Mater was here before us, and you can bet that he will be here after us. As he has written in the ancient texts, "If I'm lyin', I'm cryin'" and let me tell ya, he ain't cryin'. Bow before your lord and Mater, and hope he extends his merciful hook to you.

Once upon a time, there were two young men who were simply obsessed with a series of movies fully intended and marketed towards children. One day, they decided to explore the world of fantasy and fairy tales within this magical universe. Around this time, the one writing the description for the episode got tired of this gimmick and sort of gave up on it. So... yeah! We talk about different fantasy races and creatures in the Carsverse, how fairy tales would have played out, and I feel bad for abandoning my theme for this description, so uh.... We all live happily ever after, I guess.

It's an awful big universe out there, and I'd say it's about time we explored a bit more of it. That's right folks, this week we are boldly going and exploring the cosmos! Join us as we take a close look at rockets and satellites in the Carsverse, what space exploration would look like for a species of sentient vehicles, and of course, close encounters of the third gear. (Honestly, if we ever circle back and do a full devoted episode to aliens in the Carsverse, I'm defo gonna use that as the title. So if you actually read these, pretend like you are reading that for the first time if/when that happens.)

You know, we've wanted to get into war in the Carsverse for a while, but honestly, it's such a big thing, we had to break it up into a few parts. So uh.... new miniseries, expect a few more in the Cars of Duty series coming your way in the future! Anyway, this time we get into the physical methods of fighting and combat in the Carsverse, which, for the record, does canonically confirm the existence of war, like, way too many times. So we are get into weaponry, tanks and warships, and just get kinda bummed about from thinking about war so much.

So, listen. There's a scene in the first Cars movie in which Lightning McQueen is brought into a court with no jury and without ever being offered bail, assigned Mater as his lawyer without ever being able to contact his real legal team, sentenced to "community service" (a sentence in which he is held indefinitely while completing incredibly grueling labour and being starved of fuel), and then court is adjourned. From start to finish, this takes around 4 minutes. So uh.... that's pretty messed up, right? You should listen to us talk about that.

You know how we did an episode on Planes: Fire & Rescue, like, four episodes ago? Well, we couldn't stop thinking about the fire fighting team from it, so we decided to go back to Piston Peak and do a whole episode on them! We talk about all of that. That's why I listed all of it. It was intentional.
